The Foundations of East Chicago (FEC) is proud to announce the release of the latest Request for Proposals (RFP) for 2010 Collaboration Grants.
Eligibility Requirements
There must be a lead agency that will be in charge of coordinating the collaboration and will be answerable to FEC for the progress of the program. This agency must also be a valid 501 (c)(3) organization.
Your collaboration must consist of at least two additional organizations ideally possessing complementary yet different skill sets, which will work together on a common initiative.
The proposal must address one of the two critical priority focus areas of FEC’s Strategic Plan:
Education – Programs or projects which aim to improve the quality of educational achievement of East Chicago students.
Public Safety – Programs or projects which address crime or safety issues in East Chicago.
The proposal may also address one of the four other focus areas of FEC’s Strategic Plan:
Youth Development – Programs or projects whose purpose is to improve the social, physical and/or emotional skills of East Chicago’s youth.
Health – Programs or projects which improve the quality of health education, practices and/or services for East Chicagoans.
Family Support – Programs or projects which help strengthen the Family unit.
Financial Independence and Community Development – Programs or projects which assists East Chicagoans to become financially independent through job training, job creation or money management skills. Programs or projects which will help improve East Chicago and its neighborhoods.
Any programs or projects by either the lead agency or any of the collaborating partners should be a new initiative and not an existing one.

RFP Timeline
Noon, September 15, 2010 – The deadline to submit a draft RFP for staff review. (It is highly recommended that your collaboration meet with FEC staff to discuss your proposal prior to completing the draft RFP.)
Noon, October 8, 2010 – Final submissions are due.
No sooner than November 2010 – Award announcements.
