As part of the Health East Chicago Center’s Open House this evening, 150 guests visited the Foundations’ new offices and gallery of accomplishments. In it, the Foundations showcase the 13+year-history of philanthropic funding across six major areas:
- Community Economic Development ($11,031,000)
- Education ($5,756,000)
- Family Support ($3,507,000)
- Health ($2,070,000)
- Public Safety ($1,630,000)
- Youth Development ($6,515,000)
A timeline details the history of the Foundations, our origins in the community, and the growth of our work through 13 years. We also spotlight five of our highest-performing programs from our new collaborative networks:
- EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH
(co-developed by Purdue University Calumet, the U.S. Department of Education, School City of East Chicago and 21st Century Scholars)
- WE ARE NEIGHBORS
(co-developed by Neighborhoods, Inc., St. Stanislaus School and Church and Roxana Civic Club)
- PROJECT INSPIRE
(co-developed by South Shore Arts Center, Katherine House Boys and Girls Club, East Chicago Arts Initiative, United Neighborhoods Organization and Chicago Junior Achievement)
- MOMS TAKING CHARGE
(co-developed by Healthy East Chicago, Haven House, HealthVisions Midwest, Salvation Army East Chicago Corps, IVY Tech – Plaza Communitarias, and East Chicago City Courts)
- YOUTH P.L.U.S.
(co-developed by Community in Schools EC, South Shore Arts, Katherine House Boys and Girls Club, Healthy East Chicago and School City of East Chicago)
The Foundations’ new gallery is open to the public during the normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. All are welcome.
