Who We Are
Founded in 1997, the Foundations of East Chicago recently combined the work of two separate nonprofit organizations — the East Chicago Community Development Foundation and the Twin City Education Foundation. Now the two organizations work together as one entity, Foundations of East Chicago (FEC).
Work of FEC is funded by the Resorts East Chicago Casino and Hotel. One percent of their revenues come to the Foundations, and are used to benefit residents of East Chicago.
We have a strong track record of giving in the areas of community health, safety, and productivity. We are also committed to fostering the best educational opportunities for our citizens, including scholarships, career development, and avenues for parental involvement with their children’s academic success.
We are proud to have funded projects ranging from school roof replacements to planting trees in East Chicago, from buying over 15,000 meals for the needy to offering career workshops to troops of Boy Scouts.
